ABOUT THE MUSIC
What sort of jazz will you experience at Tri-State Jazz Society events?
Tri-State
Jazz Society presents performances by artists who specialize in the
very earliest styles of jazz music, often referred to as “traditional”
jazz. These styles include:
- Dixieland,
also known as Trad (short for traditional – one frequently hears this
term in Europe), “New Orleans-style” and OKOM (Our Kind Of Music)
- Swing (sometimes called The Big Band Era, though we feature only smaller bands)
- Ragtime, Stride Piano and Boogie-Woogie (Solo piano concerts by the leading performers and authorities in this genre)
For more details go to our History of Jazz page.
